Les Magnolias is a recently renovated 700 year old building, once the family home of the famous French poet Paul Valerie. It is owned by a German entrepreneur, Dietmar Ley, who in 2000 purchased the 700 year old building from the renowned restaurateur family Roussel and then invested substantially into expanding and renovating it into the current 22 room offering. The hotel operation is run by Claudia Ley and is used as the primary base for its cycling clientele as it is located in an idyllic cycling environment, surrounded by protected indigenous forests, rivers, ancient villages and well kept and quiet roads. Les Magnolias Restaurant boasts its own dedicated chef, Jean Christophe who delights in pleasing his clients with an impressive mix of regional and international cuisine in his semi-gastronomic (he is a humble chef!) menus. Its kitchen is professionally equipped and managed and has the capacity to serve up to 100 guests. Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served at the hotel’s beautiful medieval-period dining rooms or at its two outdoor courtyards. The lunch and dinner menus are offered at €26 (Entree+Main or Main+Dessert) or €36 (Entree+Main+Dessert). Meals can be accompanied by carefully selected regional wines stocked at the Les Magnolias wine cave. The restaurant changes its menus according with the chef’s inspiration, sometimes daily…
The hotel staff is international (French, English, German and Portuguese are spoken) and extremely friendly. Just 40 kms away from the World Heritage Site of Albi and also close to the Roquefort cheese caves and Millau’s tallest bridge in the world, Plaisance is quickly becoming an ideal holiday destination for a variety of clients from all over the world.
“A wonderful hotel in a very picturesque location. The hotel is very carefully designed to integrate all the modern conveniences while still maintaining the integrity of a lovely old manor house.”
